I absolutely loved this well-written story. Every scene is important, there are lovely descriptive passages, and the characters mature quite a bit during our time with them.
Home (a novel)
This engaging book tells several stories at once, and Yttrup elegantly switches between the different characters’ perspectives and stories.
Miss Julia Throws a Wedding
As Miss Julia’s plans to host a simple wedding morph out of control, one near-catastrophe after another adds to the building tension. Truly, Miss Julia is “throwing” a wedding.
Paradise Series
Why have I combined all three books of Elin Hilderbrand’s Paradise series into one review? Because friends don’t let friends read the Paradise trilogy out of order!
The Words Between Us
The Words Between Us follows a reclusive bookstore owner, Robin Windsor, who hopes she has permanently buried her family’s violent, high-profile past. But when the novels she once shared with a high-school crush begin returning to her, it appears that her true identity is about to be revealed, threatening the new life she has painstakingly built.
The Return
Nicholas Sparks’s The Return is a gratifying story of how we become stronger through adversity—and the critical, though often subtle, role that others’ confidence in us plays.
Where The Forest Meets The Stars
In Where The Forest Meets The Stars, Glendy Vanderah presents characters to readers as clearly as if we were meeting each other in person. The author does not skirt around the griefs of this world, but effectively uses them as a backdrop to spotlight human resiliency.
Grey Mask
In Grey Mask, every scene, even every paragraph, builds solidly on the previous one, creating a satisfying web of mystery. The authentic characters are complex yet consistent.
The Maltese Falcon
Dashiell Hammett’s glittering gem of detective fiction has entertained generations of readers.
