Dear Reader,
Years ago, when I came across Ten Prayers God Always Says Yes To: Divine Answers to Life’s Most Difficult Problems by Anthony DeStefano, I assumed it was just another gimmicky collection of halfway helpful ideas. Instead, I found words of encouragement, faith, and hope—all based on what the Bible says about prayer.
The book doesn’t necessarily need to be read from cover to cover. I recommend reading the Introduction, then skipping around to the chapters you’re most interested in.
Here are a few words from the author in the Introduction:
I know how hard it is for so many in our jaded, cynical culture to approach a book like this without rolling their eyes. But I assure you, this is not a joke or a gimmick. Nor is it one of those self-help books that preach all about personal development … This is about a spiritual treasure chest that is available to everyone …
… Instead of debating, denying, or dismissing, why not just take me up on this challenge? Read a few of these chapters, and say a few of the prayers.
Each of the chapters explores one of ten prayers:
- God, show me that You exist
- God, make me an instrument
- God, outdo me in generosity
- God, get me through this suffering
- God, forgive me
- God, give me peace
- God, give me courage
- God, give me wisdom
- God, bring me out of this bad situation
- God, lead me to my destiny
Reader, this Easter week I want to encourage you to adopt one of these prayers for your own. Let’s keep this book handy for the times we’re struggling to know how to pray or what to pray for.
And let’s see how our prayers get answered!
Here with you,
Laura
